Springtrap, also known as William Afton, is a central antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) game series.

He first appears in Five Nights at Freddy's 3 (2015). Springtrap is a dilapidated, rabbit-like animatronic suit containing the corpse of William Afton, a serial killer responsible for the deaths of numerous children.

Driven by a desire to avoid the vengeful spirits of his victims, Afton sought refuge inside the Spring Bonnie suit. Due to faulty springlock mechanisms, the suit malfunctioned, crushing and killing him inside. He then became trapped within the suit, transforming into the decayed and sinister Springtrap.
